HISTORY
Dorian Griner experienced his first infatuation with music at the age of 7. He began his studies under the supervision of his mother Bozena Griner, herself an accomplished pianist and professor of piano in “Mokraniatz” Music School in Belgrade, a graduate from Moscow Conservatoire, having studied piano with famous Heinrich Neuhaus (Richter and Gilels were among his pupils). From her Dorian inherited his passion for piano, which later was developing into an individualistic, poetic approach, which distinctively favours repertoire from Romantic periods.
He gained his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Arts in Belgrade, having studied piano with Professor Nevena Popovich.
His maternal grandparents are proud recipients of Yad Vashem Certificate of Honour.
His arrival and living in the UK was made possible thanks to generous help and support of his mother’s close friends, a distinguished doctor Gerry Low-Beer and Anna Rosnowsky, violinist, member of the Israeli Philharmonic Orchestra.
2001
DG entered the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where he obtained his Master’s degree studying piano with the acclaimed pianist and Professor Artur Pizarro, song accompaniment with Eugene Asti and classical improvisation with David Dolan.
2004
DG’s career began to be helped by musician and writer Dana Belmont and this led to a whole series of recitals and engagements in and around London, including concerts for Polish Cultural Institute and Fraternity of Artists, concert for Norwegian Ambassador, organized by Mr. Roy Baker and Grieg Society UK, private recitals for HRH Duke of Kent, organized by Barbara Kaczmarowska Hamilton, herself renowned artist and Jackie Rosenfeld OBE, an eminent patron of music life in London.
